A balisong and a tool

The idea is simple and rare: take the architecture of a butterfly knife — two handles hinged around a blade — and use the volume of those handles to carry tools. The MK135 packs a screwdriver, a wire cutter, four hex key sizes and a bottle opener. You learn the flips with it, and you fix a bike or assemble furniture with it.

The format

At 250 mm open, the MK135 is the largest butterfly knife in the catalogue. On a balisong, length changes how the movement feels: rotations are slower, wider, easier to read. Beginners like that because you can see what you are doing, and experienced flippers seek it out for the broad figures.

Uses

The MK135 belongs in a workshop bag, a bike pannier or a garage drawer rather than in a display case. The hex keys cover the common sizes for small tooling and flat-pack assembly; the wire cutter and screwdriver handle most everyday fixes.

Care

The two balisong pivots want a drop of light oil now and then. On a multi-tool model, also check the tightness of the tool elements, which develop play with use. Store it dry in its nylon pouch.
