The handle pattern

The P54S carries a run of tight raised chevrons along its handles, giving the look of a continuous braid. It is the boldest pattern in the series: in rotation the chevrons draw a clearly visible helix, and that is what makes people choose it. The texture is also the grippiest of the five, which helps when the hand is damp.

What the series shares

The five models from P50 to P55 share one architecture: a 98 mm 3Cr13 spear-point blade, steel handles, 117 mm closed and 215 mm open, two-pivot balisong mechanism with latch. Solid steel handles give this format mass at its extremities, which carries the rotation and makes the movement broad and steady rather than quick.

Choosing within the series

The P54S is the most demonstrative of the series. For something quieter, the P50 and its diamond grid; for lightness, the P52 and its cut-outs.

3Cr13 spear-point blade, silver finish, 98 mm long. Silver steel handles in a raised chevron pattern. Closed length 117 mm, overall length open 215 mm. Two-pivot balisong mechanism with latch. Weight approximately 103 g.

Care

A drop of light oil on each of the two pivots and a regular check of the pivot and latch screws, which work on every flip. The relief on the handles cleans better with a soft brush than a cloth.
