Max Knives PA2B2 — Mini two-finger brass impact tool, 65 x 62 mm

Overview

Here is the mini two-finger design in its brass version. Overall the piece fits within 65 mm by 62, its rings measure 26 mm inside and the greatest thickness recorded at the bands reaches 11 mm. Brass gives it the warm yellow tone that tells the reference apart from its aluminium twin at a glance, and a heft in the hand that bears no relation to it. The shop still files the format as mini, meaning it is built for a pocket rather than a sheath.

Two metals, one drawing

The PA2A2 and the PA2B2 come from the same drawing and share their measurements to the millimetre; only the alloy changes, and it changes everything. Brass is a copper and zinc alloy with close to three times the density of aluminium: for the same volume the piece therefore weighs considerably more, which reads as that sense of solid material people sometimes look for in a small object. Colour follows the same gap, deep yellow on one side, pale grey on the other. Brass also cuts very cleanly under tooling, giving crisp ring edges and even fillets.

Care

Like any bare brass, the surface darkens with time and handling. If you prefer the original colour, a cloth charged with copper cleaner restores it in a few passes, followed by a rinse in clean water and a full dry, especially inside the rings where moisture lingers. If you would rather let it happen, a dry wipe is enough. Either way, keep abrasives aside, as they scratch this soft metal.
