The handle pattern

The P52S handles are hollowed out — longitudinal slots and round holes open from one side to the other. The material removed lightens the outside of the knife and brings the centre of gravity closer to the pivots: rotation starts faster and tires the hand less over a long session. The openings also give a firmer grip in a wet hand, and cleaning takes one blast of compressed air.

What the series shares

The five models from P50 to P55 share one architecture: a 98 mm 3Cr13 spear-point blade, steel handles, 117 mm closed and 215 mm open, two-pivot balisong mechanism with latch. Solid steel handles give this format mass at its extremities, which carries the rotation and makes the movement broad and steady rather than quick.

Choosing within the series

The P52S is the liveliest of the series, the one to choose for long sessions. The solid-handled models — P50, P54, P55 — give a more deliberate rotation instead.

Technical details

3Cr13 spear-point blade, silver finish, 98 mm long. Silver steel handles, skeletonised with slots and holes. Closed length 117 mm, overall length open 215 mm. Two-pivot balisong mechanism with latch.

Care

A drop of light oil on each of the two pivots and a regular check of the pivot and latch screws, which work on every flip. The relief on the handles cleans better with a soft brush than a cloth.
