Overview

The FP1803 is the smallest piece in the entire family Fred Perrin drew for Max Knives: 65 mm overall, made up of a 30 mm blade and a 35 mm handle. 440C steel forms the whole object in one continuous run, in a black stonewash finish that unifies blade and handle into a single matt surface. Stock thickness is 3 mm, a generous figure for so short a format. A moulded kydex sheath and a paracord complete the set.

The smallest format of the family

At this scale every millimetre counts: the 65 mm of the FP1803 place it below every other model in the range, including the mini push daggers of the series. The blade takes a straight 30 mm edge, a simple and readable geometry with no belly and no recurve. This is an object for a keyring, a drawer or a display case, sitting in the hollow of the hand, with a kydex sheath that follows its profile exactly. Fred Perrin has been working compact formats since the early 1990s: this one is the lower limit.

Care

Since 440C is stainless, upkeep comes down to two gestures: wipe it after any contact with water, and dry it fully before it goes back into the sheath. A trace of knife oil spread with a cloth suits long storage. The black stonewash finish is happy with a soft dry cloth; abrasive cleaners are best set aside, as they would dull its matt look. The kydex rinses in lukewarm water, the paracord washes in soapy water and air dries.
